As your Newborn Session is slowly approaching, I would like to take a moment to share with you few tips that will better prepare you for the session and ensure it will go as smoothly and stress free as possible.

Before the Session…

Please do not schedule vaccinantions for your baby for the day before the session.

Avoid dressing your baby in tight clothing, as it tends to leave marks on baby’s skin.

Don’t stress.

Day of the Session…

Please try to keep the baby awake for at least 2 hours before arriving at the studio (I realize this may be impossible, so it’s okay if you can’t!). A morning bath is a great way to stimulate baby so that their energy has worn off by the time of the session and they’ll be sleepy.

Feed your baby before the session. If your baby is fed formula make sure to bring enough for a few feeding breaks. We will make as many breaks as needed to feed /change/snuggle the baby. I have a bottle warmer at the studio if you’d like to utilize it.

It is best to dress your baby in loose clothing that doesn’t go over the head and something that is easy to take off like a sleeper or onesie.

If your baby takes a pacifier, please bring one so we can keep it on hand.

The studio’s temperature will be around 75 degrees, to keep your baby warm and comfortable, but dress the rest of the family in breathable clothing.

I keep soda, la croix, water, and snacks at the studio but you are welcome to bring your own food and drinks for yourself and children. You are welcome to get food delivered to the studio if you desire or walk over to Harvey Bakery for an exceptional coffee or treat. You can even order online then pick it up before or during your session.

Children and siblings are welcome to attend the session, however you are welcome to arrange for children to be brought by dad or grandparent only for the time we will be taking their photo. I usually begin with baby only then add family towards the end of the session (a typical breakdown is 90 min. baby only/intermission/45 min family) but I can switch that if you’d prefer to do family first so siblings can leave to go back to school, etc.
